Established in Harlingen in 1965, the Marine Military Academy is a private college preparatory school for boys in grades 8-12. They may also continue with one year of grad study. It's operations are based on the foundation of the US Marine Corps, but is not affiliated with the Corps save for it's ROTC program. 

The land is original the Harlingen Airfield and later the Harlingen Air Force Base with closed in the 1960s.
