The Winnie Mae

Wiley Post piloted a Lockheed 5C Vega into history with speed records in the 1930's. He flew the Winnie Mae around the world setting records twice. His 1933 flight was risky without a navigator. He circled the globe in 7 days, 18 hours with only 11 stops.

Post pioneered one of the first pressure suit (or at least the first practical suit) with the help of the BF Goodrich company. With the suit, he was able to fly high altitudes and use the jet stream.

The plane and suit are in the collection of the National Air and Space Museum.
