The Art

There are reasons Southwest sticks to one plane species - it works.

The Boeing 737 is a workhorse of a plane. Southwest has laid the groundwork for quick turnaround by using the same plane in their system. The mechanics know the plane, as opposed to working 2 or 3 different brands. Parts and repairs are inherently easier too. Economies of scale come into play using one airplane type. Salute.

This is a working portrait. Not the fancy in-flight image or a perfect shot of an isolated plane on a runway with a perfect background. It is in the weather, surrounded by the equipment of the hour. I love how the yellow section lines put the plane in the right eye space. The reflection of the plane and the sky in the water puddles on the tarmac brings a great color splash. I especially love the worker in the distance by the tail - taking a break, waiting for the next aircraft in. It gives humanity to an awesome machine - the perfect touch for this working portrait.

Art Details

This image is printed with archival inks on acid free watercolor paper. The edges are hand-torn for a unique look. I charge $129 for a printing. May you live to be 129, and thus make it work out to a dollar a year for enjoyment before your kids grab your art for their own home!

If you want a larger canvas or ink fusion, I can do that. Let me know.

The print is 10x14 in size with a 8x12 image print on acid free (archival) watercolor paper.

Shipping in the United States includes Artist's Signature, handling, and insurance.
